Almost every Town, City, Village or Area in Yorkshire have at least one craft centre where you can normally watch craft people make things by hand, Some of these are using tools & skills passed down over several generation in making traditional items as in the years gone by. Most of these items are generally sold to visitors, many of the old small out of the way areas were a kind of hamlet which were built around a local farm or farms and to substitute the income many crofts and hamlet made a wide variety of clothes, furniture, tools along with a wide variety of goods, often when the farmer took his livestock to market one of the wife’s would normally accompany them hoping to sell the items they had made especially to increase their limited income.
There are Hundreds of old crafts around Yorkshire and all over the northern villagers and crofts that have survived for hundreds of years. Over the years foreign immigrants now form a part of Yorkshire, have brought their own crafts and skills including many of their local dishes to show off to visitors.
